Why 3D printing on a keychain in Cyprus

Most branded keychains on the Limassol market are flat blanks that get a 2D print or laser. That's fine for a simple logo but it cannot reproduce a 3D shape — a building facade, a piece of industrial hardware, a sculpted company mascot. SLA resin printing builds the part in a single operation, so it can carry true 3D geometry: depth, undercuts, fine lattice. A Nicosia architecture firm commissioned 60 SLA-printed clear resin keychains shaped like the firm's signature office block, each with the project name recessed at 0.6 mm depth. UV printing needed a flat panel and couldn't reproduce the volume; laser engraving was 2D. SLA was the only method that held the geometry. Production specifics — SLA, FDM and finish

SLA runs on a Phrozen Sonic Mighty 8K at 50-micron (high-detail) or 100-micron (draft) layer height. Print cycle is 2–12 hours depending on size and density. FDM runs on a Prusa i3 MK4 in PETG at 200-micron layer height, 30–90 minutes per part. Both technologies print directly from an STL or OBJ file. Post-processing is hand work: support removal, sanding from 220 to 600 grit, primer, paint, and either metallic leaf (gold, silver, copper) or a chrome-effect lacquer. A finished SLA clear resin keychain with paint and metallic leaf survives 5+ years of daily pocket carry; FDM PETG survives a year on a hotel housekeeping keyring in Paphos.

MOQ is 30 units. 100-unit runs unlock volume pricing at −€1.20 per unit off the 30-piece baseline. Lead time is 7–10 business days: 1 day design prep and orientation, 1–3 days print cycles, 1–2 days post-processing and paint, 1 day QC and pack-out. EUR per unit at 100 quantity on a 50×50×8 mm SLA-printed clear resin keychain with paint and metallic leaf: €5.40 (SLA clear resin) to €9.80 (SLA tough resin). Setup fee €45 per 3D model setup; subsequent runs of the same file have no setup fee. Why Cyprus buyers choose SLA over injection moulding

Injection moulding in Limassol is a viable alternative for a 5,000-unit run on a simple 2D shape, but the tooling cost (€1,800–€3,500 per cavity) and the 4-week lead time on first-article samples make it the wrong tool for a 60-unit architect's kit or a 200-piece welcome pack. SLA is the right answer for runs between 30 and 500 pieces, where the tooling cost would dominate the unit price. What is the largest 3D-printed keychain you can produce?

The standard SLA build volume on our Phrozen Sonic Mighty 8K is 218×123×250 mm. The largest keychain we ship as a finished product is 70×70×12 mm; larger items up to 250 mm in any one axis are possible and treated as display pieces or magnets rather than keychains.

Can 3D printing reproduce a complex 3D shape like a building or a logo?

Yes — 3D printing builds the shape directly from an STL or OBJ file. Complex shapes such as building facades, sculpted logos in 3D, and bespoke figures are all within the standard capability of SLA at 50-micron layer height.

Can the finish include metallic colours like gold, silver or chrome?
