Why digital printing on a folder in Cyprus
Screen printing and offset printing on a folder require setup plates — a fixed cost per design and per colour — that makes short runs and full-colour artwork uneconomical. Digital printing on a folder has no setup plates, no minimum colour count, and can carry photographic full-colour artwork at the same unit price. Stocks and finishes
Standard stock is 350 gsm uncoated card (white, cream, slate), sourced through a Limassol paper merchant. Premium stock: 400 gsm uncoated card with a soft-touch laminate. Eco stock: 350 gsm kraft card (recycled, GRS-certified). PU leather is also available at 1.2 mm thickness — digital printing on PU uses a UV flatbed at 1,440 dpi with white ink underlay for colour accuracy on dark stock, +€0.40 per folder uplift. Folder construction is a 3 mm spine wrap, an internal pocket for A4 documents, and a 25 mm gusset for folders that need to hold a binder insert. Lamination: matte (standard) or gloss (+€0.20 per unit).
Production specifics
Digital printing on a folder uses a dry-toner press (Xerox iGen 150) or a UV flatbed (Durst Tau 330) depending on stock. Dry-toner on uncoated card at 1,200 dpi is the standard for paper stocks. UV flatbed on PU leather at 1,440 dpi with white ink underlay is the standard for PU leather. Setup is included in the unit price — no plate cost, no screen cost. Offset printing requires 4 plates per design and a 500-unit minimum to recover the plate cost — wrong for a 30-unit short run. Screen printing requires a screen per colour — wrong for full-colour photographic artwork. Digital printing has no minimum colour count, no plate cost, and the same unit price for full-colour as for single-colour. For a folder that carries a brand identity, a photographic cover, or any artwork with gradient or photographic detail, digital printing is the right call. Offset or screen will be quoted if your brief is for a 500+ unit run on a 2-colour flat logo, but the standard recommendation for a corporate folder is digital.

What is the largest print size on a folder cover?
The standard print size is up to 220×300 mm — a full-cover print on an A4 folder. Most corporate folders use a 60×40 mm logo print on the front cover and a full-cover photographic or gradient print on the inside.
Can digital printing hold photographic detail and gradients?
Yes — digital printing on uncoated card carries photographic detail and gradient at 1,200 dpi. Photographic covers, gradient backgrounds and brand-image artwork are all within the standard capability of a dry-toner press.
Can digital printing include metallic or fluorescent colours?
Limited — standard digital is CMYK plus white (on UV flatbed). Metallic gold and silver are available as a fifth spot colour on the UV flatbed at +€0.40 per folder, but the result is a printed metallic effect, not a foil-shine. For a true metallic shine, foil blocking or foil-deboss is the right method.
How durable is a digitally printed folder in daily use?
Digital print on uncoated card with a matte laminate survives 3+ years of daily carry. UV flatbed print on PU leather survives 5+ years of daily carry. Both options are scuff-resistant under normal use.
