Debossing on notebooks in Cyprus

Debossed notebooks in PU leather, recycled leather and kraft cover — a permanent impressed mark without ink. MOQ 30, Limassol production, 10–14 business days from artwork approval, EUR quotes.

Why debossing on a notebook in Cyprus

A branded notebook carries the brand every day — into meetings, onto desks, into conference rooms. A debossed mark on the cover is a permanent impressed detail that does not flake, scuff or fade with handling. A Nicosia private bank commissioned 600 debossed PU notebooks for its premium welcome set, in PU leather with the monogram debossed on the front cover. UV printing was too high-contrast for the bank's brand identity; foil blocking was too reflective. Debossing was the only method that matched the bank's visual language. Cost €5.40 per notebook on a 145×210 mm A5 PU notebook with 80 sheets of 80 gsm cream paper, 600 units, 14 business days.

Stocks and finishes

Standard stock is PU leather (anthracite, navy, black, taupe) at 1.0 mm thickness, sourced through a Limassol upholsterer. Premium stock is recycled leather (apple-leather, cactus-leather) at 1.2 mm, sourced through a Paphos supplier — sustainability-credentialed for IB schools and ESG-reporting institutions. Kraft cover at 350 gsm is the eco-tier — debosses cleanly and ships with a GRS hangtag. Paper stock is 80 gsm cream woodfree, 100 gsm Munken Pure for the premium tier, and 90 gsm recycled for the eco-tier. Page formats are ruled, dot-grid, blank, or a custom 6-month planner layout.

Production specifics

Debossing is a hot-press operation: a magnesium or brass die is heated to 110–140°C and pressed into the cover board at 8–12 tonnes for 1.5–2.5 seconds. Die cost is €45–€120 per design, dependent on size — a 50×50 mm logo die is €45, a full-cover pattern is €120. Standard production is single-position deboss on the front cover; a second position (back cover, interior) is +€0.30 per notebook. Variable-data debossing (a unique name per notebook) is €0.80 per notebook above the 30-unit baseline. The notebook is bound with PUR adhesive on the spine for a 180° lay-flat opening.

Bundling and packaging

Notebooks ship in individual clear poly sleeves (€0.10 per sleeve uplift). Awards-night and welcome-kit deliveries are wrapped in black velvet presentation sleeves at €2.20 per unit. Bulk orders of 100+ notebooks are packed 25 per master carton. A Limassol fintech required 200 notebooks individually wrapped and labelled by account type — €0.18 per piece for the variable label was the uplift.

Runs, lead times and budgets

MOQ is 30 notebooks. 100-unit runs unlock volume pricing at −€1.20 per unit. Lead time is 10–14 business days: 2 days die manufacture, 1 day test-press, 4–7 days deboss and binding production, 2 days QC and pack-out. EUR per unit at 100 quantity on a 145×210 mm A5 PU notebook with 80 sheets, single-position deboss: €5.40 (PU leather) to €8.20 (recycled leather). Die cost is €45–€120 per design, single-use; subsequent runs of the same die are no setup fee. All quotes EUR net, Cyprus VAT 19% added for taxable buyers.

Cyprus context

Debossed notebooks in Cyprus are most often ordered by Nicosia private banks and family offices for premium welcome sets (200–600 pieces per quarter), Limassol fintech for new-account welcome kits (100–400 pieces per cohort), Larnaca accounting practices for year-end tax handovers (100–300 pieces per season), and Paphos luxury hotels for VIP amenities (30–80 pieces per installation). The peak season is September–November (back-to-business) and January–March (year-end tax handovers). Production is in Limassol; collection from our warehouse is free, courier delivery to Nicosia is next-day, Paphos and Larnaca 1–2 days, Famagusta and the north coast on arrangement.

Why debossing over foil or print on a notebook cover

Foil blocking and UV printing are surface applications — they sit on top of the cover board and can flake with handling. Debossing is a permanent impressed mark; the notebook can be carried, opened, slid across a desk and the mark stays in the cover board. For a notebook that lives in a briefcase or a backpack, the durability of debossing is the right call. Foil or print will be quoted if your brief calls for colour, but the standard recommendation for a corporate notebook is debossed.

Frequently asked questions

What is the largest deboss size on a notebook cover?

The standard die size is up to 200×300 mm — a full-cover deboss on an A5 notebook. Most corporate notebooks use a 50–80 mm logo die on the front cover and an optional 30×200 mm text deboss on the back cover.

Can debossing hold fine detail like a heraldic crest or a fine logo?

Yes — debossing holds detail down to 0.4 mm line weight at the standard 1.5 mm impression depth. Fine heraldic detail, monograms and Latin mottoes are all within the standard capability of a magnesium die.

Can debossing include metallic foil in the impression?

Yes — foil-blocked deboss is +€0.40 per notebook. Gold, silver, copper and holographic foils are all available; the foil sits inside the impressed mark and reads as a metallic inlay.

How durable is a debossed notebook in daily use?

PU leather debossing survives 5+ years of daily carry. Recycled leather debossing survives a similar window but shows wear faster under heavy use; the impressed mark remains legible even when the surface colour fades.

Is Corp Merch a partner or official supplier of any notebook brand?

No — Corp Merch is an independent Limassol-based corporate-merch producer. We do not claim partnership, sponsorship or official affiliation with any paper stock brand, leather brand or merchandising supplier. All product names and brand references on this page are used for technical compatibility only.

Can each notebook carry a unique name or number?

Yes — variable-data debossing is €0.80 per notebook above the 30-unit baseline. We run the variable die on a numeric-only or alphanumeric register and serialise against your recipient list.
