Corporate merch for hotels and restaurants in Cyprus

How Cyprus hotels and restaurants actually buy merch

HoReCa in Cyprus runs on a rhythm that is nothing like corporate office buying. A four-star hotel in Paphos does not place one big annual order — it places seven or eight, timed to the guest flow. Welcome amenities for the Easter opening, room key cards in May, pool-and-beach items by the end of May, autumn F&B re-brand in September, year-end corporate hampers for partner travel agents in November, Christmas VIP gifts for repeat guests in December, and a January refresh of staff uniforms before the new season. The order sizes look small from outside (often 80 to 400 units per SKU) but the annual volume is large, and timing tolerance is tight.

The supplier question matters because of seasonality. An amenity line that is in stock on 15 March is useless on 25 March. Hotels working with EU factories usually allow 4 to 6 weeks for custom-woven towels, embroidered robes or back-engraved glassware. Cyprus-based decorators can compress that to 10 to 14 working days for embroidery, screen-printing on ceramics and laser engraving on wood or leather — provided artwork is final by the end of week one.

Geography shapes the logistics. Hotels on the Limassol coastline (Amathus area, Limassol Marina, the Germasogeia strip) get next-day delivery from a Limassol decorator. Properties in Paphos or Ayia Napa typically see 2-day road service via Limassol–Paphos or Limassol–Paralimni lines. The free Famagusta area still works through Deryneia and Paralimni depots. Mountain resorts in the Troodos range (Platres, Kakopetria) usually combine their merch delivery with weekly F&B resupply, since most couriers do not run there daily.

What Cyprus HoReCa buyers order most often

The amenity side of the order is rarely optional. Newer four- and five-star properties usually keep a tight SKU list across rooms: slippers in two sizes, a bathrobe option for suites, a vanity set, a sewing kit, a shoe mitt, a shower cap. Most of these are sourced from established EU factories in Greece, Italy or Portugal and arrive blank, then decorated in Limassol or Larnaca. Some operators in the four-star-plus tier have moved to in-house brands printed on ceramics (mugs, espresso cups) and on glassware (highball, old-fashioned) — those decoration runs are best in screen-print or pad-print with food-safe inks.

Restaurant groups in Cyprus order a different mix. Branded aprons for the kitchen and front-of-house, chef coats with the restaurant monogram, server vests, reusable tote bags for take-away customers, and printed menus. Some groups also keep a small stock of branded glassware for the bar, often a single highball and a single wine glass, with the restaurant logo pad-printed. The Limassol restaurant scene around the Old Port and Germasogeia is particularly active here, and a number of independent operators rotate their merch supplier every two to three years to refresh the look.

Resort hotels often add seasonal gift packs for repeat guests. A bottle of Cyprus olive oil in a small wooden box, a packet of carob or pistachio sweets, a small ceramic dish from a Lefkara pottery workshop, or a branded beach tote with a folded Turkish-style pestemal towel. These packs are common at year-end for guests who book directly through the hotel rather than via OTAs.

Decoration choices for hospitality items

Embroidery is the workhorse for textiles — robes, slippers, polo shirts, aprons, baseball caps, tote bags. A five-needle machine in Limassol can run around 200–300 stitches per minute per head and produces clean corporate logos with up to 12 thread colours from the Pantone Coated range. Lead time on a typical 100-unit embroidery run is 5 to 8 working days after strike-off approval.

Screen-printing is the standard for short-run ceramics, glassware and packaging. It works well on mugs, plates, amenity jars and paperboard boxes. UV printing has become common for small-format welcome cards and acrylic room signs. Laser engraving is used on wood and leather — common for menu covers, leather-branded key fobs, and wooden amenity boxes.

Woven or printed towels are an exception to the local-decoration model: most hotel towels are woven to order in Turkey, Portugal or Pakistan because Cyprus does not have a terry-towel mill. Lead time is 6 to 10 weeks for a custom-woven towel and MOQ is around 300 units per size.

Real buyers in the Cyprus hospitality market

Group procurement, multi-property operator

Cyprus-based groups running 3–8 properties (city hotel + coastal resort mix). Centralised procurement, usually Nicosia HQ, with a single design owner across properties. Orders 1,000–3,500 units per refresh cycle, EUR pricing on TaxisNet, payment 30 days.

Independent four-star hotel, Paphos or Limassol

One property, 80–200 rooms, owner-operator or small management team. Single buyer handling rooms, F&B and procurement together. Annual merch spend in the EUR 8K–25K range, multiple small orders through the year.

Restaurant group, 3–6 venues

Often Limassol- or Nicosia-based, with a strong design sensibility. Buys aprons, glassware, take-away packaging and printed menus. Annual budget EUR 5K–18K, refreshes the look every 2–3 years.

Boutique retreat, Troodos or Polis

Seasonal operation, 12–25 keys, owner often oversees merch personally. Branded ceramics, small-batch olive oil gift packs, hand-written card sleeves. Smaller order sizes, premium unit price.

Lead times, MOQ and EUR pricing

Decorative work on existing stock items (mugs, glass, tote, polos, aprons) usually has an MOQ around 30 units per SKU for embroidery and pad-print, with small-batch surcharges for runs under 50. Custom-woven towels, custom ceramics and custom glass moulds start at 300 units because of factory-level MOQs in Greece, Italy or Portugal. Lead times: 5 to 8 working days for decoration on existing stock; 10 to 14 working days for custom packaging or special finishes; 6 to 10 weeks for custom-woven textiles.

Pricing in EUR, excluding VAT. Invoices are issued through TaxisNet with the standard 19% Cyprus VAT. Recurring hospitality clients typically work on 30-day payment terms after delivery, with a deposit on first orders. Rush decoration runs of 3 to 5 working days are available with a surcharge of around 30% on the decoration line.

Compliance notes for hotels and restaurants

Anything that touches food or skin needs food-safe or skin-safe compliance. Ceramics decorated for F&B should use food-grade inks and pass basic lead/cadmium migration testing for items that may come into contact with food. Amenities (slippers, robes, sewing kits) for guest rooms do not need certification per item but the supplier should be able to provide REACH SVHC declarations on request. Branded items for spa use (slippers, robes, slippers in spa areas) need the same REACH paperwork.

Cyprus food business operators (under the Health Services of the Ministry of Health) require that staff uniforms meet basic hygiene standards. Aprons and chef coats do not need certification, but consistent colour coding by department is a practical expectation. Branded reusable cups, mugs and water bottles used in F&B must be dishwasher-safe and the decoration must survive industrial dishwashing at 60–70°C.

Frequently asked questions

Can you deliver welcome amenities to multiple hotel properties in one order?

Yes. We split delivery across properties within Cyprus and across the free Famagusta area. A typical multi-property split adds 3–5 EUR per additional address on top of the standard delivery fee, with a flat logistics line item when more than eight addresses are involved.

What is the minimum order quantity for a custom-branded apron?

30 units for embroidery on stock aprons from our standard range. Custom-woven or custom-dyed apron fabric starts at around 200 units with a 4 to 6 week lead time through our partner workshop in Greece.

Do you work with Troodos-area boutique hotels on small-batch orders?

Yes. The smaller runs do carry a small-batch surcharge, but we deliver regularly to Platres, Kakopetria and the Paphos forest area using combined F&B and merch logistics routes.

Can you source olive oil or carob-based gift packs from Cyprus producers?

Yes. We work with a small list of vetted Cyprus producers for olive oil (Creta Farm–style packers, plus several Troodos-area mills), carob and carob syrup, and Lefkara pottery. Producer documentation and lot numbers are available on request for hampers.

How do you handle year-end corporate hampers for travel-agent partners?

Year-end hampers are produced in November with delivery windows in the first half of December. We handle the packaging line in Limassol and ship to your hotel's central warehouse or direct to partner addresses within Cyprus and the EU.

Are you affiliated with any hotel brand or chain in Cyprus?

No. Corp-Merch is an independent merchandise supplier. We work with hospitality operators on a client-by-client basis and do not claim any official, sponsored or affiliated relationship with hotel brands, chains or industry associations in Cyprus.
